He went with Borric, James and Locklear to the birthday celebration of the Empress of Kesh. When he arrived in Kesh his brother was captured by slavers. Erland continued on to the heart of Kesh with James and Locklear. When they got there they found out a plot by Lord Nirome to become the emperor of Kesh. They foiled the plan and were thanked by the empress. He would later marry Genevieve.
