As part of its ninety-year contract with the Sorakin Joint Military Forces, Delani Defensive Industries developed the then-XM6 assault rifle after the older M1 battle rifle reached the edge of its service life. After a brief consideration period in which an alternate cartridge was chosen, the XM6 was adopted as an experimental weapon and given to serving Sorakin infantry officers. In mid-2534, the XM6 was adopted in the Sorakin military as the M6: Rifle, Model Six, 5.56mm.
