The Type 97 Tank Machine Gun was a gas-operated machine gun that was used by Imperial Japan during World War II. It was commonly used in tanks, but in some cases, it was used as an infantry light machine gun. It fired the 7.7×58mm Arisaka round and had a rate of fire of 500 rounds per minute. It commonly had telescopic sights when used with tanks and this itself was equipped with a rubber eye pad.
