Staff Nurse Maloney assured Ray Langton that there were no problems with his wife Deirdre's pregnancy, after her contractions stopped when she had initially gone into labour in January 1977. Deirdre was sent back home. Staff Nurse Maloney was on hand again for the birth of Tracy Langton a few weeks later. Her routine handling of the birth was a marked contrast to Ray's blind panic. The nurse remarked that Ray was causing a bigger fuss than Deirdre.
