The Dauntless-class carrier was designed in the 3960s (BBY) by Rendili Hyperworks, manufacturer of the Hammerhead-class cruiser, as a dedicated carrier for transporting the next-generation fighter of the day, the Aurek tactical strikefighter. The Dauntless-class has extremely poor armament, as most of its hull is devoted to a hangar and flight systems, but excels as a support vessel, with its large fighter complement providing cover for better-armed Hammerhead-class cruisers.
