Beru Lars, née Skywalker, was a Tatooinian woman and moisture farmer in years spanning the formation of the Galactic Empire. She was the wife of Owen Lars, the sister of Anakin Skywalker, and the aunt of Luke Skywalker. Following the death of Anakin and his wife (Luke's mother), Owen and Beru Lars took Luke in and raised him like a son. When Luke was twenty years old, Owen and Beru were killed by Imperial stormtroopers who were searching for the stolen plans to the Death Star battle station.
