The Corvette Stingray is based on a concept car that formed a basis for the second generation Corvette Sting Ray. The Stingray racer-concept car was designed by Pete Brock, Bill Mitchell, and Larry Shinoda in 1957. This car was driven by Mark Wylde during highway 35. This car could've been impounded when he was in shady business with Kurt after the race.
