He was consecrated a bishop for the then Carmelite Order of the Holy Face on January 1, 1976 at El Palmar de Troya, Spain by Roman Catholic archbishop Pierre Martin Ngo Dinh Thuc. He holds Antipope Gregory XVII to be the legitimate successor of Pope Paul VI (1963-1978).
