During the Battle of Geonosis, at the dawn of the Clone Wars, 908th snipers were stationed all around the battlefield, mostly at the spires. The 908th marksmen kept the winged Geonosians out of the skies with their advanced snipers. The marksmen were rivaled during the battle by another infamous sniping unit called the 817th Marksmen Regiment, who were known for ruthless tactics. The entire 817th was wiped out during the battle, and the 908th's snipers were known for their great sniping ability during battle, and the CIS noted to look out for them and tried to start a Droid Sniper program. After the Battle of Geonosis, the 908th was sent to Bastion.
