(DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad") According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 61, 62, 66) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Stellar Cartography", p. 38; "Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), Beta Pictoris was a multi-star with a pair of A-class stars.
