August 29 1976: MLK chooses his running Mate at the DNC - Jimmy Carter of Georgia. November 4 1976: In a surprise election, Martin Luther King wins the election by a Landslide, taking Nebraska, New York, Tennessee, the West Coast, Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Illinois and just barely Texas against President Gerald Ford of Michigan.
