Artifact dæmons are such dæmons as acquire power over artifacts, either because they are bound to an artifact by a dwimmer-crafty individual or because they arise from the item itself, again either because they are helped into being by a practitioner of magic or because they arise by nature, which appears with a frequency proportional to the strength of the thaumic field in the artifact. Artifacts which contain dæmons are, if mastered, potentially the most powerful magical items, but not all magical items have a dæmon - many are simply ensorcelled with a spell.
