The Necrophage name is derived from two Greek prefixes, "necro" meaning corpse and "phage," meaning eater, hence detailing the foliage's devastating caustic properties. Like all interactive plants in Borderlands 2, the Necrophage does not register as an enemy, though it can damage Vault Hunters.
