Ethel Newton is a character in the novel Final Destination: Dead Man's Hand. She is the elderly wife of Fred Newton and has five children and twelve grandchildren. After spotting Allie in the elevator at Merlin's Tower and noticing she looked ill, she asked if she was all right, despite Fred demanding she leave the car. She offered Allie a few TUMS to see if it would help her, before she started talking about her children and advised her husband Tom to take care of her. Before leaving the elevator, she told Allie and Tom not to let go of each other and not to cheat on one another. She later left the elevator, still arguing with Fred about his bad gambling luck and how she's a jinx.
