The Lake Toran Pirates were a group of pirates that operated out of Lake Toran; it was led by Anji and his subordinates Kanak and Leonardo. The group proved to be a constant nuisance to the Scarlet Moon Empire, especially to Sonya Shulen, admiral of the Scarlet Moon Imperial Navy. In fact, the Lake Toran Pirates' effectively distracted the Imperial Navy from engaging the Toran Liberation Army for most of the war, thus lessening the chance for a direct confrontation. The Lake Toran Pirates allied with the Liberation Army upon the insistence of Tai Ho, who was an old friend and rival of Anji.
