Ash Tree Mailer is malware that downloads (or links to) illegal images (often in in zip files) repeatedly over a long period, and spreads by spam conversations. It also changes the browser home page to illegal sites. It can display splash screens with fake police threat, etc. The name refers to pretend file sharing program mentioned in nonsense messages.
