Prestwich is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, in Greater Manchester. It lies close to the River Irwell, is 3.3 miles north of Manchester city centre and has a population of over 30,000. Olive Clarke, the widow of Percy Sugden's old army pal Nobby lived in the town and he visited her there in March and April 1993 after his old pal's death.
