He is one of the remnants of the ill-fated clan that was eliminated by prodigy Itachi Uchiha during the Uchiha Clan Massacre. With his gifted Sharingan, Light, as a young child, plotted to destroy Itachi Uchiha for the same reason as Sasuke Uchiha, to avenge his clan's demise.
