The unnamed Bus Driver was mildly abusive towards Roy Cropper when he journeyed back with his purchase from an auction room - a huge antique globe. As Roy got off the bus on Rosamund Street, the globe almost knocked a passing Ken Barlow off his feet. The driver shouted to "Mr Universe" (aka Roy) that next time he should take a taxi and threw him his canvas bag which he'd almost forgotten to take with him. The Driver is notable for having been played by Robin Colvill, a member of the musical comedy group "The Grumbleweeds".
