Abdullah bin Abi Kilabah goes searching for his camel and discovers the City of Many-Columned Iram, where he collects some of the treasure. The Caliph Mu'awiyah hears of this and summons him. Abdullah shows him some of the pearls, but they have grown dull and yellow. The Caliph summons Ka’ab al-Ahbar, who tells them the story of the city. Shadid and Shaddad, the sons of Ad the Greater, ruled the city together. After Shadid died, Shaddad wanted to build a city like Paradise, but Allah destroyed his company and the city was lost. A tablet was placed in his tomb giving the moral of the story.
