Thomas Catmur (c.1832-1914) was a journalist and local politician. The editor of the Eastern Post, he stood for election to the London County Council at its first elections in 1889 as an independent candidate at Tower Hamlets, Whitechapel. He was unsuccessful on this occasion, but at the elections in 1892 he was elected to represent Whitechapel as a Progressive Party councillor. Re-elected in 1895, he resigned on 24 February 1897.
