Soft opening is a phrase used at Disney theme parks to denote the opening of an attraction to the public before its official opening date. A soft opening is done to work out any technical difficulties that may arise from having a large volume of guests riding an attraction without the pressure of having the attraction operating inefficiently or being down during or after its grand opening.
