The Marine Liaison Officer is usually the Starfleet Marine Officer in charge of all embarked Marines on board a starship. He serves as an adviser to the Captain and a vital link between Starfleet personnel and Marines. He often will operate as, or in concert with the vessel's Tactical officer. (Star Trek: New Order)
