A Nursing Officer was the division officer in charge of all the nurses in a Starfleet medical department. These personnel had attended Starfleet Academy, but had not continued on to Starfleet Medical Academy. Ensign Mala Corwin served as the USS Lionheart's nursing officer from 2371 to 2372, before transferring to the USS Starquest. (Star Trek: Lionhearted)
