Ham and Leal, were the only servants left to the Sayers when Orman and Old Bear visited. On the first morning of their visit, Orman observed Leal setting out bread and jugs on the table in the hall. She greeted him with a nod. When a lot of shouting arose she chuckled and shook her head and seeing his puzzled look, pointed him in direction of the rear of the building. Soon after Leal came out to the yard, bowed, and told everyone that the morning meal was ready. Upon Old Bear's teasing call of 'come to me, my dove of love', she squeaked in terror and fled inside.
