The kingdom of Essex was a relatively short-lived (2001 to 2004) state on 20x Earth. It was one of the states that were formed from the fallout of the November Mess, along with Suffolk. Essex was formed from the outer regions of Cambridge, while Suffolk was formed from Ely. In 2004, Essex united with the United States of London to form the kingdom of England. Essex was a constitutional monarchy, its head being Elizabeth I from 2001 to February 2002, when she was assassinated, and Elizabeth II from 2002 to the union with London.
