Becky Sklar is what is called a "racer-chaser" (a.k.a. groupie), she hangs around the drivers, mechanics, etc. because she likes to be around people who work in the racing world. Sometime in 1984 or 1985, Sklar was involved with a racer who was so physically abusive to her it left her with a broken jaw and nine months of recovery (including drinking soup through a straw). She was questioned by Metro-Dade Vice cops James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs about her involvements (during the Florence Italy case) but she absolutely refused to discuss the racer who was abusive to her, to the point of fearing for her life.
