Despite not making any other appearances, one of the signs on the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre Building depicts an Ambulance and a Fire Engine. The vehicles on the sign are based on those used in the Model Series. The Ambulance also appeared in the books, Thomas Noisy Book, Henry Goes to the Hospital and Thomas the Tank Engine's Big Yellow Treasury. It was mentioned in the magazine stories, Trouble in the Tunnel, Emergency! and Operation Rescue. It was also mentioned in the annual story, Golden Oldies.
