Beaten by Them is a mostly-instrumental post-rock band from San Francisco. Its sound can be attributed to its use of cello and samples along side more conventional rock instrumentation. It contains influences from jazz, classical and beats-based electronic music. Its musical pieces often take a long time to develop and have been described as moody, expressive and intense. The band includes three Australians, a Swede and an American with roots in Sierra Leone. Members are currently split between San Francisco and Melbourne, Australia.
