The Constitution states that the law shall determine the number of the People's Assembly elected members, provided that it is not less than 260 members. The Assembly is made up of 270 deputies, 265 of whom are directly elected while the remaining 5 are appointed by the President of the Republic. The assembly sits for a five year term, but can be dissolved by the President at any time. The Assembly may demand the resignation of the cabinet by voting a motion of censure.
