Aachenosaurus was actually a species of plant that Gerard Smets originally thought was a 4 to 5 metre long hadrosaur with dermal spines. He said that the specimens had been examined by eye, magnifying lense and microscope. He defended his decision twice, and was proved wrong both times. After the second time, he withdrew from science completly due to embaressment.
