Unlike many of the other Autobots and his counterparts in other continuties, Bumblebee was never on Cybertron. When the Cores were removed by Megatron and the Energon balance of Cybertron disrupted, a quick shockwave spread throughout the universe. Many new sparks were formed as a result of Cybertron's destruction and the shockwave. The sparks went on to create many new Transformers which Bumblebee was one. Bumblebee began to wander the galaxy in search of a new home and eventually found his way to Earth.
