Arnold Pettifer did the books at Ernest Bishop's Camera Shop. In July 1976, he met with Ernie in the Rovers to present the terms of the new lease and the news that the landlord was nearly trebling the shop's rent due to rising inflation. Both Arnold and Ernie knew that the business wouldn't break even under the new conditions and that the only choice was to go into voluntary liquidation.
