Medina was a city in Saudi Arabia, considered – along with Mecca – one of the holiest sites in the Islamic faith. In 1991, Al-Qaeda turned its anger on the United States when that country maintained its troops in Medina and Mecca. In retaliation, al-Qaeda bombed an embassy in Riyadh, killing a number of Americans. (Trinity)
