County seat is Franklin, Texas. Robertson County is home to the town of Hearne, which is location for the events that were portrayed in fiction in the the 2008 film American Violet. The actual events involve the unjust arrest for drug dealing of Regina Kelly, a young African American woman and single mother of four daughters who lived in public housing. Instead of accpeting a plea bargain, she successfully contested the criminal charges and then brought in the ACLU to file a discrimination suit against the D.A. and local police.
