The Infernal Devices is the prequel series to The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. It was the second published series in The Shadowhunter Chronicles, but is the first story chronologically. Set in Victorian London, the series follows Tessa Gray, an orphaned teenage girl who discovers she has the power to shapeshift, abilities that plunge her into a world she never knew existed.
