The 1970 American 500 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at North Carolina Speedway on October 15, 1970. Cale Yarborough led 205 of the 492 laps in route to a dominating four-second victory on David Pearson, Yarborough's third and final victory of the year.
