Venafro attended the George Mason University and graduated with a BA in Broadcasting. He also studied at the University of Reading in England and is a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). More recently, he appeared in the science fiction film 40 Days and Nights (2012, with Hina Khan).
