The Glades is the name commonly attributed to an impoverished neighborhood in Star City. Shortly before the end of the Infinite Crisis event, Doctor Light (Arthur Light) and the archer Merlyn mounted a massive attack against the city, which nearly destroyed it. Crime-lord Danny Brickwell took control of the Glades after the Crisis and instilled a sense of authority in the district while Mayor Oliver Queen struggled to bring new money into the city to rennovate the Glades. A year after the Crisis, the Glades were still a haven for criminal endeavors, although Brickwell did manage to strike a tenuous truce with Mayor Queen.
