Gairks were aquatic predators that lived on Ansion. The gilled creatures had warty green skin and huge sucking mouths that were large enough to swallow a Human. Gairks could combine their mouths to create even larger amounts of suction. In 22 BBY, Jedi Padawans Barriss Offee and Anakin Skywalker, while on a mission to Ansion, became entangled with a school of these river-dwelling creatures. The young Jedi, however, were able to disengage from the force of the creatures' powerfully combined suction vortex and free themselves.
