The Avengers are a team of superheroes that appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They were assembled by S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director Nick Fury through the Avengers Initiative and the titular main protagonists in the 2012 cross-over live-action film The Avengers and in its 2015 sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron.
