The Vendikar was commanded by an officer by the name of Tak in 2371 when Vendikar encountered the immense, powerful Hive starship as it crossed through Cardassian space. Investigating the Hive for technology that might prove useful to the Cardassian Union, Vendikar was completely destroyed by the monofilament weapon of the Hive's attack fighters. A scientist named Garaia was also a crewmember aboard the Vendikar. (DS9 novel: Objective: Bajor)
