The Dark Wolf is an enemy in the Dawn of Souls and succeeding versions of the original Final Fantasy. Its japanese name reveals that it references the Blind Wolf from Final Fantasy V It can be found at the Whisperwind Cove. It is a palette swap of the Wolf. They are not challenging for the point they are encountered in the game, despite their high Agility. A strong multi-targeted spell is enough to wipe out an entire group of them.
