Contact was lost with TV-898 in 19 BBY when the the droid armies were deactivated, and it drifted aimlessly through deep space for years. During the times of the Galactic Empire, rumours began to spread about it, prompting many adventurers to traverse the cosmos searching for it. Very few returned from their trips triumphant, and several disappeared during their travels. Some surviving relatives of Gunray tried to use old Federation files to locate it, but still unsuccessfully.
