The enterobacter are a genus of bacteria that do not have a cell wall and thrive in environments that do not contain oxygen. Although most of them are harmless, two of them, e. aerogenes and e. cloacae, are opportunistic infections that can effect hospital patients and the immunocompromised. They tend to be resistant to standard antibiotics.
