The United States Congressional elections of 1960 were held on November 8, 1960, concurrently with the Presidential election as well as state and local elections. The elections were significant as they handed the National Party control of both Houses of Congress after a decade in the minority along with a Nationalist President, albeit with very minor majorities. Still, 1960 is regarded as a landslide year for the National Party, which ran under a hawkish campaign promising unity at home against the French threat and a promise to "bridge the divide" between France and the United States.
