A blood stylus was a sharp writing utensil used for scribing documents. An individual would prick themselves with the sharp end of the device so as to draw blood, which was then used in place of ink to compose their document. Sith apprentice Vestara Khai kept a blood stylus on her person which, when the need arose, she used to write on sheets of loub-paper.
