Task Force Four was a United Federation of Planets Starfleet task force deployed during the Kelvan War in 2285. The task force was commanded by Admiral Fitzpatrick aboard USS Compactat. (Orion Press: In Harm's Way) Most of the vessels assigned to Task Force Four — including the USS Altair — were destroyed. Surviving vessels included USS Republic, USS Excalibur, USS Astrad, USS Salayna, USS Yorktown, USS Hornet, USS Kestral, USS Sinuiji, USS Za'farin and USS Mars.
