Akodo Daio was the brother of the Lion Clan Champion. He married to Matsu Sodohime. As the Akodo and the Matsu were not allowed to marry, they circumvented it with Daio taking the name of his spouse, becoming Matsu Daio, and the male children would be raised as Akodo. The couple fathered Akodo Toturi and Akodo Arasou. The Matsu, expecting the first child of the couple to be a daughter, immediately turned upon the boy with suspicion, guessing he would clearly be a weakling and a failure.
