The community of Brownsville is cutting its staff in December 2006 due to budget problems. The community has laid off its police force and all other employees, except for the borough manager. The borough had three full-time and three part-time officers, and six other employees. State Police in Belle Vernon will take over patrols until the community can afford their own officers again.
